Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 - Battery Life

Posted on: june 06, 2010 10:32pm

A couple of weeks ago I got my new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 phone which I totally love - it's brilliant.

However, the battery life is shocking despite its high capacity 1500mAh battery. Under normal use; 10 - 20 texts, 15 - 30 minutes of phone calls, 5 - 10 minutes of Facebook and the Moxier Mail application running in push mode I got around 8 to 10 hours before it was completely flat.
Apparently I am not alone with this issue, so what is the solution?

Firstly charge and totally discharge the battery about 5 times when you get it. This conditions the battery and you will see the performance increase over time.

Secondly install the Helix Launcher. Sony Ericsson bundle the X10 with their own launcher program - that is the desktop interface where all of your widgets and icons sit. The Helix Launcher offers the exact same functionality and with a few extra options.

How to do it:

1. Go to this website http://helixproject.ruqqq.sg and download the file HelixLauncherDonut 1.2, it must be donut for your X10. Plug the phone into your pc, mount the sd card and copy the file onto it.

2. Install an app on your phone that can install .apk files, such as Astro File Manager, it's free from the Android Market. Run it, browse to the the file you copied to the SD card and click on it. Choose Open App Manager and then hit Install on the next screen.

3. Press the Home button and you will be given the option of which home screen to use, you want to choose HelixLauncherDONUT.

4. Reboot your phone by switching it off and back on again.

That's it done! Start to enjoy 50 - 80% more battery life.

At long last the all new cannotfindserver.co.uk / Ross's Site is here!
You'll find that much of the old stuff is still here for old time's sake and some new stuff too.
I hope you like the new layout and style (because it took me ages to do... by hand!) and it's not too complicated
to use.

Remember to keep checking back as I promise to update this blog more often than I used to. I'll remind you
when I've posted on Facebook anyway.

Thanks for visiting and leave me a message!
